Background & Brief

DHL is the global market leader in international express, overland transport and air freight. It is also the world's number 1 in ocean freight and contract logistics.  Since launching in Ireland in 1979, DHL has opened service centres in Dublin, Cork, Shannon Waterford, Athlone, Limerick, Galway, Letterkenny and Tralee.  DHL appointed Tibus as their internet partner in early 1998 to help them with the rollout of their electronic services online.

Services

Through the development of three websites and involvement with a number of intranet and new media projects, Tibus has provided the following to DHL over the course of the business relationship:

  • Integration with package tracking applications to allow users to tracking parcels online
  • Ability to organise and book shipping services through the web
  • Get rates in real time to find cost of shipping anywhere in the world
  • Order consumables quickly and efficiently
  • Manage content through a bespoke content management system
  • Redesign the site in line with global branding requirements following the global rebranding exercise in 2003
  • Provide marketing and online brand development services through the development of screensavers, wallpapers and DHL based characters

Results

  • Ongoing integration between the internal software applications of DHL and the web
  • DHL customers provided with the ability to communicate with DHL on their own terms, through media such as web, email, SMS, WAP and phone
  • Explosion in the provision of web based services, with customer numbers rising 75%+ year on year
  • Greater efficiencies to DHL as more and more customers move to electronic means of communication, cutting down expensive call centre operations
  • Delivery of Tibus products and services throughout DHL in Europe, including DHL UK and DHL Czech Republic
